Mirth
How it works
Meeting strangers once is easy. It gets good when you see the same people again. Every part of Mirth is designed so a single walk or social can turn into a regular group and then a community.
Sign up with your country, city, what you like doing and your level. Anyone anywhere can join. Your city page shows what members are hosting, Ideas for The Usual, and what else is on nearby.
Pick an activity and we place you in a group in one of your city's suggested slots. Groups come in any size, from a few people with a host to a big open social. Hosts are members, verified by us, who organise each event. Groups mix people coming back with people who are new, and a lone newcomer is never dropped into a group where everyone already knows each other.
Your host shares the route or venue, meeting point, transport, kit, a weather check at 72 and 24 hours, and a go or no-go call. You check in at the start and the end, with a trusted contact you choose.
After each event you quietly mark who you would happily see again. Then you see one message: how many of your group want to go again with you. Never who said no.
People who say yes to each other across two or three events become a crew. Your crew gets first refusal on the next slot, names itself after its third outing and meets at least twice a month.
Crews mix at city socials, milestones mark 5, 10 and 25 events, and any member can apply to host; hosts complete an ID check, verify their phone number and accept the host terms. Crews that go off on their own are a win, not a loss.
Many events are free. When a host charges for an event, the price is on the event page and you pay through Mirth when you book. Mirth keeps a 10% platform fee from the host's share. Travel and food are your own.
Membership: coming later
Sign-ups are open in every country. Mirth is the platform: members host the events. Birmingham, UK has the first member-hosted walks and socials from November 2026, and any approved member can host The Usual in their own city.
Tell us your city and what you like doing. We email you when members host something near you, and you can host The Usual yourself.
